MonLam for World Peace 2015
July 4 & 5
You are cordially invited for this inaugural two-day Monlam Prayer Festival on 4 July and 5 July. Various Buddhist Centres of the different lineages in Singapore would be coming together in this festival to pray for World Peace, unity and harmony. This is also held in conjunction with Singapore’s 50 years of Nation Building as we continue to dedicate for the peace and happiness of its people.
Monlam Festival (is commonly known as The Great Prayer Festival)
Traditionally, during this festival, thousands of monks from the three monastic universities of Drepung, Sera and Gaden, assembled before the statue of Shakyamuni reciting scriptures to pray for the long life of spiritual masters of all traditions, for the discovery and flourishment of Dharma in the minds of all sentient beings, and above all, for world peace.
The main purpose of the Great Prayer Festival is to pray for the long life of all the holy Gurus of all traditions, for the survival and spreading of the Dharma in the minds of all sentient beings, living beings, and for world peace. The communal prayers, offered with strong faith and devotion, help to overcome obstacles to peace and generate conducive conditions for everyone to live in harmony.
