Puja Sessions

Puja sessions led by Geshe Lobsang Yonten

Taking place every first or fifteen of the lunar month, we participate in various offering ceremonies - Puja. When done properly with great dedication to all our dear mother sentient beings, these virtuous activities can aid our practice and various endeavors.

See our event calendar for the exact dates. All are invited to join.

Guru Puja – Guru Puja is a practice consisting of making offerings to and requesting inspiration from the Spiritual Master. Spiritual vows and commitments which might have degenerated are also restored through the practice of tsog offering (feast offering).

Tsog means gathering. We gather together the things we’re offering, and we ourselves gather together to do the practice. Gathering together with other practitioners, concentrating our minds into the same space, gives us great inspiration. It’s much better than just doing puja alone in our own rooms.

Tsog in the Tibetan tradition is a most profound method of purification, a profound way of gaining realisations. When you recite the text in English you can see how many subjects are included in the practice. The Guru Puja covers the entire path to enlightenment from beginning to end. So it can happen that in your daily meditations on the lamrim you’re not making any obvious progress, then suddenly during a puja, because of the conducive atmosphere you’ve created, some realisation comes into your mind. Many people have gained realisations during a puja simply because of the atmosphere.

Dzambala Puja – Dzambhala Puja is a very powerful ritual for bringing the energies of prosperity, positive energy, abundance, hope, wealth and whatever you wish for that increases spiritual practice and virtue.

Tara Puja – The prayer of Tara has many extraordinary blessings. It is helpful to recite these prayers whenever one is troubled and wishes to seek solace.

OM TARE TUTTARE TURE SVAHA means:

“I prostrate to Tara the Liberator, Mother of all the Victorious Ones.”
